Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Haneef: Immersive Quran ("App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App. By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for this App is the operator of Haneef: Immersive Quran. For privacy-related enquiries you can reach us at privacy@haneef.nl.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Information stored locally on your device
- Reading state - last-read surah, ayah, reading mode, recent surahs, and local continuity data.
- Bookmarks and favourites - saved ayahs, favourite translations, and favourite reciters.
- Settings and preferences - selected reciter, app theme, language, immersive focus mode, tajweed preferences, and background audio settings.
- Download and cache metadata - local bundle records, file paths, cached font files, audio references, and related storage metadata used for offline access.
- Daily goal data - local goal configuration and progress used to preserve continuity inside the App.
2.2 Information processed when fetching Quran content
- Requested Quran resources - surah numbers, ayah references, translation identifiers, reciter identifiers, and font page requests needed to load content.
- Standard network metadata - when third-party content services respond to requests, they may receive your IP address and ordinary technical request information as part of normal internet communication.

If you contact us by email, we process the information you choose to include, such as your email address, your support or privacy request, and any screenshots or context you send voluntarily.
3. What We Do Not Currently Collect
- No account registration data.
- No cloud profile or social graph data.
- No location, contacts, microphone, or camera data for the current app feature set.
- No Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics in the current Quran project build.
- No advertising profiles or third-party ad targeting.
4. How We Use Information
| Purpose | Example | Legal Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Provide core app functionality | Remembering your last-read ayah, bookmarks, preferred reciter, and selected reading mode | Performance of the service you request |
| Enable offline continuity | Managing local download records, cached audio, and stored font assets | Performance of the service you request |
| Retrieve Quran content | Calling Quran APIs and content hosts when you open a surah or start playback | Performance of the service you request |
| Respond to support and privacy requests | Replying to emails you send us | Legitimate interest and steps at your request |
| Troubleshoot issues | Reviewing the information you voluntarily include in support conversations | Legitimate interest |
5. Third-Party Services and Content Providers
We do not sell your personal data. The App depends on external Quran content providers to serve text, recitation, timing, and font assets.
| Service | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Quran text and some audio endpoints | AlQuran Cloud | Surah, ayah, translation, and some recitation retrieval |
| Reciter catalog and audio streams | MP3 Quran | Reciter discovery, surah audio streams, and timing-related data for supported reciters |
| Verse timing API | Quran.com API | Timing and segment data for supported recitation playback |
| Remote Mushaf font assets | Quran Foundation asset hosts | Downloading page-based Quran font files for exact Mushaf rendering |
Each third-party provider operates under its own terms and privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies if you want more detail about how they handle network-level request data.
6. Permissions and Technical Access
The Android build currently uses internet access and media playback related capabilities so the App can stream recitation, support foreground media playback, and manage cached or downloaded Quran files for offline continuity.
7. Storage, Security, and Retention
- Local storage - most app data is stored on your device using app-managed local storage and SQLite databases.
- Downloaded files - offline bundles, cached files, and remote font files may remain on your device until you delete them, clear app data, or uninstall the App.
- Email correspondence - if you contact us, we may retain the correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to handle your request and protect against misuse.
8. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal data and we do not share personal data with advertisers. Information is only shared to the limited extent necessary when the App requests Quran resources from third-party content providers or when you voluntarily contact us by email.
9. International Data Transfers
Because the App uses internet-based Quran content providers, information related to requests may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including countries with different data protection standards.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, and to request portability of information you have provided to us.
Because the current App build does not rely on user accounts or cloud profiles, most data control is local. You can usually remove App data by clearing the App's storage on your device or uninstalling the App. For privacy requests, contact privacy@haneef.nl.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not intentionally designed to collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will work to delete it where appropriate.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be reflected on this public policy page.
